The Infosys Science Foundation has announced the winners of the 2010 Infosys Prize. The winner in physical sciences is string theorist Sandip Trivedi of TIFR. Other winners are:
Chandrasekhar Khare (UCLA) [Mathematical Sciences]; Ashutosh Sharma (IITK) [Engineering and Computer Science]; Chetan Chitnis (ICGEB) [Life Sciences]; Amita Bhaviskar (IEG)[Social Sciences - Sociology] and Nandini Sundar (DSE) [Social Sciences - Social Anthropology]

Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prizes 2009
Rajesh Gopakumar of the HRI, Allahabad has been awarded India's top scientific award in Physical Sciences (along with Abhishek Dhar of RRI, Bangalore). Rajesh is the sixth scientist working in the area of string theory to get the award -- the others are Ashoke Sen, Sumit Das, Sunil Mukhi, Sandip Trivedi and Atish Dabholkar.
